Eyelashes are a feature that most people associate with beauty. When properly enhanced, lashes have the power to open up the eyes, define the lash line, and make the color of the eyes appear more vibrant. There are two kinds of services that are usually done in salons and spas to enhance the lashes, either Eyelash Extensions or the Lash Lift & Tint. Which service is right for you?

Lash Extensions involve gluing individual and artificial lashes to your natural lashes. It is a very meticulous process that can take anywhere from 1 1/2 hours-3 hours. The results are beautiful and can make even the most sparse lashes look voluminous and dark. There is a catch however. Fills must be done every 2 weeks for maintenance. It’s time consuming and costly, but potentially worth the results if you are committed. You must be very careful and gentle with your lash extensions to prevent damage of the natural lashes and fallout. Daily washing is also required to keep the lashes healthy and clean. Sometimes people can develop allergies to the adhesive used to apply the extensions, so if this happens then the extensions will have to be removed.

The Lash Lift & Tint is a semi-permanent treatment that curls and tints your own natural lashes using a lifting and setting solution to make the lashes look longer and more luxurious. During the service, a silicone rod is applied to the eyelid and the lashes are combed up onto the rod, using adhesive and meticulously separated one by one. Then the lifting solution is applied from the base of the lashes moving upwards, followed by the setting solution and lastly they are tinted using a rich black/blue color. The end result is that the lashes are perfectly separated and curled and look much longer. The service takes a total of 1 hour-1 hour and 15 minutes. After care instructions include not getting the lashes wet for 24 hours (this is the amount of time needed for the lashes to set), avoid sleeping on the side (as to not crush the lashes) and combing through them periodically using a dry mascara wand. Results will last 6-8 weeks and will vary depending on lash health, lash cycle, and home care.

The Lash Lift & Tint is a less costly and time consuming alternative to Lash Extensions and offers such beautiful results, you won’t even think twice. Want to try a Lash Lift & Tint but are worried that your lashes aren’t long enough? There are different sized rods that can be used for different lash lengths and even the shortest lashes can get great results. However, if lash length is a concern for you, then I recommend purchasing Grande Lash Serum from Sienna Skin & Beauty. In conclusion, I prefer the results of the Lash Lift & Tint over Lash Extensions, and that’s why I only perform the Lash Lift & Tint at Sienna Skin & Beauty. Lash Extensions are great for special occasions, but for ongoing maintenance I definitely prefer the Lash Lift because it’s less costly and time consuming, and promotes healthier lashes.
